Hiring a photographer for a wedding is a must. So much planning goes into a wedding that a couple will certainly want to have great pictures to document the occasion as it unfolds . Plus, family members and friends are going to want photographs to remind them of Your wedding day. While amateur photos are nice in some instances, there is nothing like a professional photographer & a complete professionally designed wedding album to reflect on . Grand Photography offers many Wedding Albums to choose from & offers wedding packages to fit all couples needs.
Couples should begin the process of looking for a wedding photographer at least a year in advance of the wedding date. Grand Photography only books one Wedding per day because we want to give our clients the one best time for their wedding pictures.
While the cost of a wedding photographer may seem a bit exorbitant, in truth, to not hire a professional photographer a couple is opening themselves up to the possibility of disappointment. While family members and friends may take fantastic photos on vacations and the like, there really is no guarantee that they will take outstanding photos on the wedding day. Besides, family and friends should be focusing on the fun day, not on working during the wedding!

Megapixels when is enough enough?
every year we see all the camera manufacturers come out with new cameras and every year the new cameras have a larger and larger pixel count. What is the right amount of pixels for what you shoot? do you even know!.
If you are a weekend shooter shooting for fun and as a hobby how big of prints do you print? most people shooting for fun or as a hobby print 4 x 6, 5 x 7, 8 x 10 and some 11 x 14 prints. Very few people in this range of photography ever print a 16 x 20 or larger. So for the weekend shooter or hobbyist the question would be why spend a ton of money on a 12 megapixel camera when you don’t need one.
Let’s take a look back at Digital photography just a few short years back. Professional photographers were shooting with two megapixel and three megapixel digital cameras and printing and selling 16 x 20, 20 x 24 and larger prints. Sports shooters shot double-page spreads for every national Magazine you can think of all with two to three megapixel cameras.
I myself shot with two megapixel, three megapixel, four megapixel, six megapixel, eight megapixel, 10 megapixel and now 12 megapixel cameras and I have printed 20 x 30 size prints from all of the cameras over the years. What is change the most is not that a larger print has more pixels in it making it look better it’s that newer cameras over the years produce better colors, better shadow detail, and much better low light shooting abilities.
If you look back at a camera like the Nikon D2Hs a four megapixel camera and you look at prints printed at 20 x 30 and then look it a print from a 8MP or 10MP camera printed at the same size looking at both prints side-by-side you will see no visible difference in the print quality the four megapixel print will look just as good and not show any pixelization at all in fact if you do not know what camera shot each print it would be very difficult for you to tell what camera shot it.
So if you’re shooting for fun and even in a professional capacity more is not necessarily better. One of our favorite cameras is the Nikon D40 it is a fantastic six megapixel camera that can produce outstanding large prints in any size you want including billboard sized prints. This camera sells for around $600 with a kit lens. This is by far the best all-around low-cost camera you can buy today.
I currently use a Nikon D3 as my main camera for most everything I shoot. One of the big advantages of the D3 is the ability to put the camera in a cropped mode of shooting. In this mode the camera instead of shooting large 12 megapixel files it can shoot five megapixel files that are fantastic and can be printed large looks grate and have all the high end color technology and low light shooting abilities of the D3. Also we have a Nikon D700 camera that offers the same cropped function so we get the best of both worlds small files that print large and large files that print even larger and give us lots of extra room to crop the image we want. See us at here

Nowadays with the huge onslaught of different brands of cameras that offer different size chips and different formats many people ask what is the best format to shoot in.
We have the cropped APS format, Full Frame and the Olympus 4/3’s format for starters and other commercial side high-end photographers are shooting in super high resolution digital medium format sizes.
APS size is normally found on mid-to low and digital cameras but many professionals including wedding photographers portrait photographers sports photographers and commercial photographers do the use APS format cameras like the Nikon D300, D90 or the cannon 40D, 50D or all the other famous brands offering APS sized cameras.
Full Frame seems to be the professionals choice and every year we see more and more full frame cameras available like the Nikon D3 and D700 and now older Canon 5D. Full frame makes the most sense it represents the same size image as 35mm film in a digital version. Larger viewfinders that are brighter and much more easier to use. The newer way of full frame cameras also offer outstanding lowlight shooting abilities never seen before on any cameras before them.
Each year all the different camera manufacturers bring forth their latest and greatest digital cameras for you the consumer to consider. And each year we see being or and bigger pixel counts on the new cameras. Do you really need more pixels for what you shoot we will discuss that in our next post.

what is a master of photography? how can you become one?
a master of photography can be viewed many ways.
- A photographer who has a master of photography certificate from PPA.
- A professional photographer who has been in business successfully making a full-time living just from photography. After years of experience a photographer can become a master of photography within his own business as a successful full-time working photographer.
- Many photographers after years of running a successful business also go on to teaching or doing photography seminars showing others the style and approach to their photography.
To master photography it can take many years of shooting understanding camera techniques how the camera works including all the functions of the camera. Also to master photography you must master lighting whether it’s natural light studio light on camera light or a mix of both mastering the light is a big part of mastering photography. If you are a photographer who shoots people like weddings family portraits children and small babies you will also need to master the art of posting and the art of being patient with your customers.
A master of photography means many things to many different people but in the end it’s the final image that is the true judgment of the photographer’s ability to capture the subject the light and the emotion to create a masterful image that when viewed by anyone they will see a quality photograph that has above average qualities over just a snapshot anyone could of shot.
Are you a master of photography? Or are you on your learning path to become a master of photography?
To truly master photography can be a lifetime of learning as cameras and lighting techniques change the modern photographer needs to stay in touch with what his or her clients want from the photos they take.
